SILVER SURFERS

The Silver Surf Club has been developed following consultation with over a hundred older Loughton residents and has been operating since 2015. It is part of our programme to increase social inclusion.  It aims to link activities and tools which make it easy for older people to make connections in the digital age.

It does not offer an IT course, but follows the interest of the individual in how they want to use their mobile phone, laptop or tablet.  It also gives more choices – to shop online, to discover activities, to contact friends and loved ones via social media, to play scrabble, and other games and to deal with governmental and other authorities online.

Peer-to-peer learning is encouraged. There is advice on online security.

No previous experience is needed and iPads are provided by LVC for anyone who just wants to try things out.  There is no charge for the club and refreshments are available.

The Club meets for 6 week courses at Loughton Methodist Church, 260 High Road, Loughton IG10 1RB.

It is useful if we know you are coming. You can let us know by phoning 0208 508 6114, texting our  mobile phone on  07592 369195 or through our website www.loughtonvoluntarycare.org.uk
